Experimental waste sterilization process
Announcement: Experimental waste sterilization process
Description:
To ensure the safety of experimental waste sterilization and implement the promotion of energy-saving
carbon reduction policy, Inform the principle of autoclaving infectious wastes, and hopes all units of our
school's cooperation.
1.Common infectious and combustible waste:
Including direct contact with the specimen or sample plastic pipette or container.
Processing method: Collect combustible infectious waste which has no liquid in the red sterilization
bags. Transport to the Sterilization room for autoclaving. Then uniform transported for burning by the
environmental protection company.
2.Experimental waste that can not be sterilized:
a.Acid, alkali organic solvents and chlorine bleach or hypochlorous acid solution. Sterilization can cause toxic gases and cause corrosion of the autoclave body.
Processing method: Please do waste sorting recovery (According to the school organic solvent
recovery methods). Collect flammability of containers and laboratory equipment in the red sterilization
bags and without autoclaving to uniform transported for burning by the environmental protection company.
b. Paraffin-embedded tissue samples has Zylene, if autoclave will cause carcinogenic toxic gases.
And after paraffin gasification cooling will cause Sterilization pipeline obstruction.
Processing method: Collect combustible waste which has paraffin in the red sterilization bags.
Transport to the sterilization room’s recycling car and then uniform transported for burning by the
environmental protection company.
c. Non-infectious laboratory waste. Commonly used as experimental reagents, plastic packaging
for cell culture, wrapping paper or plastic bags, or operating non-infectious experimental plastic gloves
and paper towels for wiping. Don’t have biological infection hazard and no need sterilization, at the same
time can effectively reduce the use of sterilization pot, reduce electricity and carbon emissions.
Processing method: Collect combustible waste in the red sterilization bags. Transport to the sterilization
room’s recycling car. No need sterilization and then uniform transported for burning by the environmental
protection company.
3.Waste disposal principles is based on reference and is established by Office of Research and Development
and Office of Environmental Safety and Hygiene. Sterilization room staff will conduct daily checks.
If found to be uncooperative or offenders will be sent to Office of President to discuss penalties.
